Hello. Thank you for writing to us
Acne can present as various types of lesions i.e black-heads, white-heads, papules, pustules and post-acne scars.
Moreover, acne can recur after seemingly complete cure.
Genetics definitely plays a role and therefore acne is more common in those who have a family history of acne.
History of menstural irregularity and coarse facial hair on examination are clues to underlying hormonal imbalance.
Underlying hormonal imbalance needs to be corrected with cyclic/ monthy hormonal pills.
Home remedies are not advisable because they are not effective remedies for acne and may cause irritation and dryness and thus may cause more harm than good.
For active acne I usually start my patients on Oral as well as Topical antiacne antibacterial agents.
Oral remedies include
Oral antibiotics like
Azithromycin, Doxycycline Or Minocycline.
Topical antiacne treatment includes clindamycin,
benzoyl peroxide and Adapalene gel.
Oral and topical treatment may need to be continued for weeks or months depending on the severity and response to treatment.
I suggest that you seek another appointment with a
dermatologist in your region for the needful.
