Suggest Treatment For Blockage In The Duodenum, Gastroenteritis And Ulcers

Hi. I have a blockage at my duodenum & have been told I have gastroenteritis and a couple of ulcers. I have a lot of pain on the right side of my abdomen that has progressed to the middle of my back. I do not get heartburn or indigestion. I do have very hard, small ball-like poop that causes severe pain all over my back. When this all first started about 2007 I was having periods of severe diarrhea that lasted at times up to 3 weeks. Then my poop was very smelly & it floated in what looked like oil. I am so tired of being in so much pain. Do you have an opinion? Thank you, Michele

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of blockage at duodenum, have been told that you have gastroenteritis and ulcers, pain on right of abdomen that has progressed to the middle of back - small hard ball like poop - started in 2007 when had periods of severe diarrhea for about three weeks - the poop was small and floated.

All this history is suggestive of post-ulcer duodenal scarification. and as you have stated the problem started way back in 2007 and seems to have continued.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get a repeat upper GI Endoscopy done to review the present state.
Barium study to see for the extent of blockage and decide whether you need a corrective surgery.
CT scan or MRCP to see whether there is secondary pancreatitis or not, a known cause of referred pain in the back.
Clinical evaluation regularly.
PPI like Omeprazole.
Antacid and motility regulator called a Domperidone.
Soft bland and frequent feeds.
Further treatment as per the reports.
