Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is good that your fiancee is conscious, oriented and her headache and
blurred vision are decreasing. But still you have to first rule out dangerous
head injury by observing signs of it in her, like
: vomiting
:
loss of consciousness for more than 5 minutes or decreasing consciousness
: fits
: bleed through nose/throat/ear without direct damage
: onset of new focal deficit
: persistent headache not responding to medications
If there is any of above sign, you should take her to ER as soon as possible. The doctor will evaluate her and may ask for CT head to rule out
fracture or brain bleed. Further management will be decided after CT report. In case of fracture only, medical management is given usually while bleed may require surgery.
If no above signs, then no need to worry. This black eye is due to collection of blood in skin layers and spread of it around eyes through skin layers. This colour change occurs due to breakdown of blood products. It will fade away in 10-14 days on its own. At swelling or lump, you can
Apply icepacks.
Keep her head at higher level than chest to relieve swelling.
You can give her painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription. Avoid pressure at injury site.
Hope it will help her. Still no relief, you should
consult doctor.
Thanks. Take care.
