im 16 weeks pregnant and was just recently diagnosed with cervical adenocarcinoma. My doctor suggested abortion and hysterectomy asap but this in my 1st pregnancy and since the cancer is just in my cervix at 3cm, i want to know if i have any other options?
Hi, At 3 cm it is stage 1 B.,as you are just 16 weeks abortion followed by hysterectomy would be the logical option. But it is a decision that you have to make entirely. If you continue the pregnancy ,it may be too late to be operable and lead to further progress and deteriorate your condition. You could go for for radiotherapy which has similar survival rates as surgery in stage 1B and 2A. You can go for surrogacy if you go ahead with the hysterectomy now. As with radiotherapy there is a chance of damage to ovaries as well ,which could affect your eggs.So ,You can choose to have hysterectomy now and have a surrogate pregnancy later with your eggs.Or ,If you do continue this pregnancy ,then go for radiotherapy ,but take the risk of worsening the stage. Also delivery can be an issue and a caesarean is indicated for delivery. Sorry for all the bad news. Hope this helps you to decide
