Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My mother has chronic high blood pressure. And these days she is having a cervical pain in her neck. Can she use heat pads to alleviate the pain in the neck? Can heat pads increase her blood pressure.? Her kidneys have been damaged due to high BP. We have to keep her BP in control constantly. Please advise. Is there anything else she can do to alleviate the cervical pain and dizziness? Thanks,
You can definitely use a heating pad, it will relieve pain. However, get an X-RAY AND MRI OF CARVICAL SPINE should be done to get the exact diagnosis.
Using a heating pad does not cause any effect on blood pressure and to prevent dizziness and neck pain follow these steps:
1. Use heating pad
2. Avoid using a thick pillow
3. Use cervical collar
4. Take your blood pressure medicine regularly
5. avoid lifting weights
6. decrease salt intake and spicy foods
7. take tab Vertin if dizziness is severe
8 .monitor blood pressure regularly
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
