Hi,
I want to clear about closed cervix, that cervical stenosis can exist at birth as a result of genetic condition or it can be due to other conditions like infection, most common is infection or
hematometra, pyometra. Symptoms are
irregular periods, no periods or scanty periods, or no periods, pain during periods,
infertility or
chronic pelvic pain.
It is diagnosed by difficulty in
endometrial biopsy, when doctor try to insert a instrument through cervix but feel difficulty in passing this instrument. Treatment is passing different sized dilated, one by one through internal is and try to open the stenosis, this procedure is called D and C, until appropriate dilatation is reached, under general anesthesia, sometimes doctor pass a stent, which is a tube, that keep the cervix open and avoid reclining. This stent can be kept for 4 to 6 weeks. And if other factors are normal you can conceive.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
