Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my sister has been having long periods of constipation. She also complains that she's hungry, but when she eats the food sits in the top part of her stomach. I've also seen her upper abdomen get very disdended. She has had a colonoscopy and her dr refuses to do an xray of her stomach. What advise can I give to her? She also says that several months ago while sitting down, it felt like her insides folded over. She is 5'5" and 130lbs
I understand your concern. Some advice that I can give you are:
1) Drink more water.
2) Eat more fiber, especially soluble, non-fermentable fiber.
3) Exercise more.
4) Drink coffee, especially caffeinated coffee.
5) Take senna, an herbal laxative.
6) Eat probiotic foods or take probiotic supplements.
7) Take laxatives.
Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
