i have been seeing a local physcian cocerning my headaches which are primarily unilateral (behind left eye).. MRI was clear. Started on Indocin 4 months ago. I had good results in the begining but the continuous headache has now returned. Currently taking 50mg Tid. Question: Do you think Neurotin would help??
Hello! It is very important to have as much information as possible to diagnose and label a type of headache. The most common unilateral location headache is migraine, wich also has a normal MRI. Migraine, to be treated, needs chronic preventive medication and acute crisis medication. Acute treatment has the intention to stop or reverse a migraine attack. Indocin(indometacin) is used as an acute drug. It is used only when a headache announces itself or is present, not in a regular daily basis. In the meantime the preventive treatment aims to reduce the frequency and severity of migraine. Gabapentine (neurontin) is one of them, and i think it can help, but there are other drugs that are more successful in preventive treating of migraine, like propranolol, flunarizine, amitriptyline, topiramate etc. I hope i have been of help.
