Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Due to long-term (chronic) or prolong coughing there is the commonly associated pain in chest or ribs. As cough is forceful exertion, so the muscles do get spasms. Don’t worry this pain will go away once your cough is settled. I would suggest you to take a cough syrup or expectorant if it’s with mucus, only to relieve cough, if you have no fever and any other symptoms besides a cough, you don't need to take any antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Faeza Sherdil
