Hi,
From the findings that you have reported, there is a possibility that by being close to the
uterine cavity, the fibroids may trigger cramp like activity in uterine walls, causing pain like it happens during periods.
Pain appears to be the main symptom affecting you. Is the pain happening only during periods or anytime during the month. I would suggest that you change the pain medication and see if an alternative pain medicine suits you.
Usually fibroids shrink and go away once a woman attains
menopause because it needs female hormone - oestrogen to maintain its growth.
There is still another 10 years or more when this may happen in your case, so in the interim we should have a plan on how to manage the fibroids so that they at least do not grow in size or number.
I would suggest having a complete work up of blood tests that make sure that there is no sign of inflammation. Using
Mirena is an option you could consider as it gives control over periods, birth control and may reduce pain.
Sometimes however there might be increased perception of pain initially after insertion. It will be a case of trying and seeing if it works for you over 3-6 months while taking pain medications as required.
If these conservative approaches do not work, then surgical options can be discussed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
