Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a hard lump on the inside of me knee. It hurts when I first walk on it , but feels better after I do so. There is redness on the skin and it is very sensitive to touch- almost a burning sensation. I have varicose veins on that leg and thought that was the problem.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Varicose veins can get infected and inflamed. Inflammation of varicose veins can cause pain, fever, redness and burning sensation. A painful lump is unlikely due to varicose veins. However, investigations need to be done for varicose veins. A hard lump can be due to bony or cartilaginous lesion. You need to consult your surgeon for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. If there is evidence of infection, the infection needs to be controlled first before undertaking any investigation. Diagnosis can be made after performing required investigations. An X-ray of knee joint and/or Doppler studies will help to make the diagnosis.
Thanks and take care Dr shailja P Wahal
