Hi,
Your initial symptoms are very reminiscent and in fact could represent a diagnosis of some type of
meningitis (perhaps viral or aseptic) in which case the continuation of
headaches even at this distant point in time is not unexpected. The symptoms of palpitations and fluttering are likely also related to the
anxiety and
stress of having had this problem in the first place.
I believe a good consultation with a
psychologist can help teach you the techniques of DEEP BREATHING and RELAXATION WHOLE MIND AND BODY RELAXATION. Your headaches will go away over time and for them you may take a reasonable amount of
TYLENOL or
MOTRIN but please PAY ATTENTION to the limits detailed for you on the bottles of these over the counter drugs. Exceeding these limits can place you at risk for suffering more frequent and more intense headaches which can then, become chronic, unrelenting, and very difficult to treat.
Stay OVERLY hydrated if anything and also consider using some form of thermal intervention over your neck if it's still hurting you such as HEAT or even ICE COLD. Check into obtaining or being prescribed what is called a THERMAZONE device with a front/side pad (there are other pads but I recommend this one as the most general pad likely to work for the majority of your symptoms and locations where your headaches may strike.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Wish you the best of health.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
