Dear doctor: I am a 40-year-old male. I have been working out in the gym for 4+ years working out 5 days a week with occational breaks like a week of in 3 months. I used to work for more than 15 months in the night shift from 10 pm to 6 am. Some time this year, I started getting insomnia. it started once in 10-15 days and gradually progressing. so I started taking sleeping pills gradully increasing and finally it was everyday. 2 months back I got fed up and took a break from work and went out of station. from the first day on I got very good sleep and through the trip I slept well. I came back and started gym again and the same problem arose. I stilll did not realize and it was only later when I delebately started skipping gym to see if I could get sleep and it did come. I asked a lot of my friends but did not get an answer what was the problem. I have stopped working out now and I sleep ok. will I be able to work out in the future, will the problem come back. I do want to work out very much, please advise what is my problem and how I can overcome this.
