Suggest Treatment For Lower Leg Cellulitis

I was diagnosed with cellulitis on my lower leg (shin area) after I fell and hit it, I am on anti-biotics and the redness is going down but the pain is very intense and now my ankle is twice the size, I am going back to my GP tomorrow but should I be more concerned tonight?

Hi,

Your provided information is inadequate to guide you accurately however I will try my best to reply you with the information provided.

If you are on oral antibiotics and you feel that after starting the medicine your conditions do not improve or worsens than switch to intravenous antibiotics as soon as possible and get admitted in the hospital so as to prevent your self from any kind of sepsis.

Use ice packs, pain killer injections, proteolytic enzymes to reduce edema, and even if not relieved you may need a surgical intervention like fasciotomy to relieve compartmental pressure.

So if you feel that your conditions do not improve please get admitted in hospital as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jaideep Gaver,
