Suggest Treatment For Lung Infection And Double Malaria

hi, my father is admitted for double malaria, including cerebral malaria. He has developed lung infection and now is on ventilator. The infection is still increasing. The doctors seem to have lost hope. They say they can only wait for the body to respond to medicine which currently is not responsing.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of Malarial ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) is more likely.
It is very rare complication of malaria in which there is severe bilateral lung involvement.
Anti malarial drugs (artesunate), methyl prednisone and ventilatory support are the treatment of choice.
Honestly speaking, survival rate for Malarial ARDS is very very low (less than 10%).
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your father. Thanks.
