Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.
Opacity in the right parahilar area with same sided tracheal shift on chest x-ray has two differential diagnoses -
1. Collapse of lung
2. Fibrosis
For better evaluation your mother should have a contrast enhanced CT scan of thorax and if any suspicious lesion is found then CT guided fine needle aspiration cytology or biopsy (FNAC/B) should be done to have a diagnosis. You should consult a pulmonologist soon and get your mother thoroughly examined.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dr Arnab Maji
