Is Cleft Lip And Palate A Birth Defect?

30 years ago my 3rd son was born with a cleft lip and palate. He is having sinus issues now and need reconstructive sinus surgery. His health plan will not cover this because they say it is congenital from birth. Is it possible that this is not related to his birth defect ? Lots of people have sinus reconstruction and never had a cleft lip and palate. They still have messed up sinuses and need surgery.

sinuses problems are aquired disease not related with congenital defect.sinuses are due to infection, mostly bacterial.birth defect is corrected long time ago.Hence birth defect should not missed with aquired disease and insurance should cover it fully.
