Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
good day. i am confused, as when i was in the USA i was told i had damage to Brachial plexus nerves, fybromyalgia, and carpal tunnel sydrome. in Greece they told me i had osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatism, and spinal stenosis. in the UK they say no obvious indication of spinal stenosis or any information regarding femoral nerves on my MRI, but that i only have osteoarthritis. i can only work 3-4 hours a day, and throughout my job hours i'm in extreme pain, including numbness, burning sensations, leaving me unable to do anything at all after work. i can't write, or even hold a cell phone. i am currently on 50mg twice a day of diflofenac, 60mg of MST, and 20ml of ORal Morph, and i still have severe pain iin hands, swelling of hands, excrutiating pain in spine, hips, legs, and right knee, continious numbing in both hands. how is it 2 countries found i have problems in my spine with their tests, x-rays etc.,and te UK all i have osteoarthritis, but yet they are sending me to neurosurgeon, and not an orthopaedic surgeon? and i'm confused with their diagnosis regarding spinal stenosis. some advice please. thank you. Kiki
I have studied your case and reports Canal stenosis leads to burning/numb sensation and pain in your leg. MRI may shows mild to moderate disc bulge with canal stenosis. Due to compression of this nerve root there can be leg pain associated with it.
I will advise you MRI spine and knee to confirm diagnosis.
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started. Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help. Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief. I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.
There can be associated fibromyalgia. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
