Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Knee After An Injury

In Jan we had a volley ball game, in which I fell down and sprained my left knee & there was swelling. i consulted with the doctor who gave me pills (for a particular time period). After the medication, swelling reduced and was ok for while. But then the swelling again came with slight pain and find it uneasy to walk. Kindly suggest a remedy or suggests of getting appointment with orthopedist????
