Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I ve had pain in my left Achilles for the past 2 weeks, I ve been using ibuprofen gel which has helped but it s still painful especially going up and down stairs and if I walk on it for a length of time. I ve now also noticed a bump on it to the the side and have a fluttering feeling in it. I wondered whether it could be tendonitis or whether it could be something else? I don t think it s ruptured as I still have full flexion of my ankle and toes.
Based on your information it's appears to Achilles tendonitis. However, accurate diagnosis could be arrive only after clinical examination and relevant investigation.
If it's Achilles tendonitis,Course of physical therapy and shoe modification with heel raise and soft posterior countor would be quite helpful.
If no relief afte 6 weeks of above treatment, local injection could tried.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Rajesh Gayakwad
