Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fever After SMA Syndrome

Hi. I was released from the hospital a week ago after an 18 day visit for gastroparesis and SMA syndrome. I'm immuno-compromised, and I've had a consistent fever for a week now. No other symptoms as far as I can tell. My temperature normally ranges in the low 96F's, but it's been in the 100s, the lowest being 99.8.

Hello,

Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome patients may be persistently prone for malnutrition, so prone for more infections. Other common complications seen in SMA syndrome is:
1. Electrolyte imbalance
2. Hypotension
3. Peptic ulcer disease
4. Aspiration pneumonia etcetera.
Fever may be due to infection or inflammation by viral or bacterial in origin. Eat low fat and spicy food, avoid alcohol. Eat limited quantities of food with increased frequency. Please consult your physician he will investigate the cause for your problem and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
