Hi my mother had an operation 18 mnths ago on a polyp in her bowel they kept her waiting nearly a year for the op and it had turned to cancer by the time they operated here we are 18 mnths on now and she has had scans and they have found she has another polyp but she has no cancer cells could it be possible it is cancer again ??
hello see cancer is a very Dynamic disease per se. it spreads very fast at times and at times it doesn't. it has a varied etiology and what exact cause I'm your patients case is we can't tell. but yes once a patient develops polyps and that too ones that have developed malignant change the dictum is to go for strict surveillance and when found to be suspicious removed it as early as possible either via endoscopic splicing or resection depending upon the size and accessibility of the polyp.
