I have a new heart rate monitor. I am about 20 lbs overweight and have started spinning/biking class. I love it and feel great- my average heart rate is around 160 and the highest is usually around 180. HOWEVER, it has gotten up to 215 two times in the past 2 months. I am 39 and have good cholesterol levels. I also have a good heart- I have been to the emergency room twice in the past year for heart stuff- turns out I am allergic to Claritin D- but have had every heart test except for a stress test-I have TERRIBLE insurance and do not want to do unneeded tests but also don t want to have a heart attack.I have a new heart rate monitor. If your father has blockages in three vessels along with diabetes, then the best decision for him is an open heart surgery; bypass, this is what has suggested your doctor. Of course there are some surgical risks, but it is the best option for a diabetic patient. In case the surgery is successful, and he follows his doctor's recommendations about the medications and the lifestyle, it will prolong his life.
Wishing a good health to your father.
