We understand your concern.

Morbid obesity is known to cause insomnia[sleeplessness] due to obstructive sleep apnea. As suggested by your doctor it is better to get sleep study done.Because using sleep medications can lead to respiratory problem.

Mean while i suggest you to start practicing sleep hygiene. That is avoid day time sleep, wake up at fixed time, moderate exercise, cut down screen time that is tv,mobile and laptop use to be reduced particularly after 9pm.You can take warm water bath just before sleeping which can help you to sleep better.

Hope the answer has helped you.
