Suggest Treatment To Remove Ear Wax

I was using a cuetip in my ear (i know... bad idea...)and seem to have a blockage in my ear. I think it may be ear wax but im unsure. Is there an easy way to help this with out seeking out medical aid. I've tried taking a hot shower but it has no effect.

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.

I have read the query and I strictly suggest you not to put any such objects in your ear which may cause ear infection and even there are chances of rupture of ear drum. The risk of rupture is even present with the use of ear buds as people usually tend to go deeper inside.

Production of ear wax by ear canal is normal and prevents infection of ear canal with lubrication.Excess of ear wax can cause difficulty in hearing due to blockage of ear.I usually suggest my patients after proper examination of ear to put soliwax ear drops for 4-5 days for softening of the wax for easy removal.

But as you are not sure and considering the history of insertion of a cuetip inside ear,I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for an otoscopic examination of ear to rule out any perforation of ear drum or any infection of ear canal to decide further course of treatment.

Don't use cotton buds or any other material in ear which will aggreviate the condition.

Hope this answers the query.

Kindly rate the answer if you find it useful.Take care.
