Swelling In Face Reduced With Benadryl. Lower Body Swelling Can Be Due To Edema?

Last Sunday I woke up with a swollen face and lower body, I assumed was caused by an allergic reaction to laundry detergent. With liquid Benadryl the facial swelling went away but now my legs are still swollen. The swelling will go down while I sleep but as soon as I get up it's right back to swelling so much I cannot bend and I am waddling like I'm 9 months pregnant. The only medication I take is the Nuvaring. Edema is a side effect but could it cause swelling this drastic?

hello. elevate your legs on one pillow when you are lying down and put them up when you are sitting down. go to your doctor and he might request for your blood sodium and electrolytes. stop the medication Nuvaring for now. you might need compression stockings. the edema might be due to excess fluids from your body during an allergic reaction or it can be due fluid retention.so go on a low salt diet also. I do advise you see either an allergologist or a vascular specialist.
