Swelling Under The Skin On Lower Abdomen. What Could This Be?

I have this black/purple swelling under the skin on my lower abdomen its about half an inch long. I have no pain or itching and the skin around it is not red. It has only appeared in the last couple of days. I am from Manchester England and have not been abroad in the past 3 months and have not had any bites or stings it has just appeared from nowhere

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Swelling under the skin on the lower abdomen might be a lipoma that needs to be surgically extracted. I also think that you might have had an inflammation and the lesion seems to be black/purple making me think that it is just a pinched skin in which blood has clotted and is taking a long time to heal. However if you think that the swelling is increasing in size, you need to see a doctor.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
