Swollen Ankle, Numbness In Foot, Had A Fall. X Ray Suggests Sprain. Did My Doctor Miss A Hair Line Fracture?

I went to Urgent Care today because I fell and hurt my ankle. My ankle is very swollen and I have numbness in the bottom of my foot, however, I did have an x-ray and the doctor said no broken bones, just a sprain. They wrapped my ankle and gave me a foot brace, but it hurts so much when I try to walk. My question is, should I follow up with my own doctor and could they have missed a hair line fracture?

Hello,
You must still be in terrible pain after your fall.

I come across many people in your situation with injury to ankle after a fall.
In most of them, a X ray is done to rule out fracture.
I understand that the pain might be quite severe and woul like to see your x ray myself, but if your doctor has seen it himself and said no fracture then I dont think there will ever be one.

The ligaments around ankle are injured and that is the cause for your severe pain.

Please rest a few days.
Things will improve soon.

Hope this helps.
