Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Chin And Neck. Could This Be Due To Smoking?

good morning.....i have a question about swollen lymph nodes under the chin and neck area. is it possible it could be from smoking . my son has swollen lymph nodes....2 years ago a lymph node had to be operated on on the side of his jaw....it was very infected....but there were no specific findings in the tests done afterwards. thanking you.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

Lymph node can't become swollen just because of smoking.

Lymph from any tissue passes through respective lymph nodes before mixing in main blood stream. These act as barriers.

Whenever there is any infection in the catchment area of lymph nodes, it becomes swollen.

Thus whenever any lymph node is swollen and tender, doctor should examine its catchment area to find out the cause to treat accordingly.
