Swollen, Painful Ankle With Numbness Following A Sprain. Awaiting MRI Results. Concerns?
Hi, I sprained my ankle nearly four weeks ago had x-ray confirmed no breakage. Was told to go to work & walk on it . After a week was in so much pain. So Been signed of workforce 3weeks & due to go back Monday. Waiting for MRI results. However I still suffer with pain while walking & standing, pins &needles and foot going cold / numbness. Also feeling sick. Ankle is still a little swollen and skin very tight an hard. Is this normal?
The ankle joint consist of ligaments and tendons apart from the bones forming the ankle joint. WE have the deltoid ligament, lateral ligament and tibiofibular ligament. Even if any one of them is injured, it may result in pain in the absence of a fracture. Your ankle is still inflamed and your walking and standing is not allowing it to heal. Please wait for MRI reports and avoid weight bearing on your affected ankle.
Hope this helps
