Swollen Painful Toe After Being Hit. Need Medical Attention?

I struck my baby toe on my couch last night! Now the side of my foot is swollen and when i touch the bone in my foot where it joins to my toe a pain goes up the side of my foot and shoots through the bottom of my foot and it hurts to walk on it! I was wondering what would cause the pain and swelling and if i should get doctor to look at it?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing in.

you had injury to your baby toe and after that it was swollen & tender to touch .

It might me soft tissue injury or fracture.

You need an x-ray to rule out any fracture.

you have to visit a orthopaedic surgeon for examination of foot & treatment plan according to that.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
