Swollen Red Bumps Near Leg. Why Is There Pus? Is It Cellulitis?
I have big swollen red bumps that appear on my legs, usually one at a time. They fill with puss like a pimple but hard to pop. . I recently had one and it got so swollen and painful had to go to the ER. They said it was cellulitis . If this is it what can I do to avoid them. I have one now and can hardly walk. I put heat on it at night as suggested to draw the puss to the surface to get it out. What do you think?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Localized cellulitis is usually bacterial infection which is caused due to some trauma to skin like some minor injury, scratching, insect bite etc. After this, bacteria gain entry through the skin and cause infection in the subcutaneous tissues. Keep your legs clean and dry. Apply antibacterial cream on the swelling. Take painkillers for the pain. Repeated skin infections can denote either vitamin B deficiency, also increased blood sugars. I suggest you get a hemogram done to rule out metabolic causes. Thanks.
