Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the given description, I am of the opinion that your swelling & pain in the wrist could be due to Extravasation of either blood or the IV fluid. This generally is not much of a concern as it will resolve spontaneously with simple Rest to the local part, Elevation of hand and Ice packing & moist heat fomentation.

If your symptoms persist, then consult your treating doctor.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

General & Family Physician Dr. Ramesh M.Vachharajani's  Response
Hi,
It seems that due to extravasation of iv fluid there might be having some irritation on the part or thrombophlebitis is there.
Continue ice pack application and cream.
If require go for one antibiotic medicine course if your doctor feels needed.
Ok and take care.
