Swollen Tonsils, Fever, Congestion, Large Tear In Tonsil. Treatment?
Hello, I have really swollen tonsils. I do not feel sick. I had a fever about a week ago that lasted 1 day. I felt congested but the next day I felt fine. I still have swollen tonsils. The right tonsil actually looks like it has torn. I normally have a hole there, but the hole looks like it has torn to almost triple its size. What can this be?
The hole you are referring to is the crypt of the tonsil. There are multiple crypts in the tonsil and when there is inflammation of the tonsil the crypts usually get obliterated which looks small like a pit over the tonsil. The crypt gets widened once the inflammation reduces. Do not worry! This is perfectly normal.
