TPHA Positive, Given High Dosage Of Antibiotics. Treatment To Make TPHA Negative?
is there someone that could help me.. i am tpha+ but i have been injected with high dosage of antibiotics i dont know what it is but it was in a glass bottle together with levofloxacin for 2 weeks and after i have been tested again for tpha and the result is 3.000 what is that? is that worst? what do you want to advice me? please help me... and is there any change that i could make it the tpha become negative?
hello Thanks for your query. You were probably given penicillin as an antibiotic against syphilis Once the disease is cured, the TPHA would become negative. Please upload the entire report for me to be able to interpret it correctly. Antibiotics are the best possible treatment against the infection. Please repeat the test after 6 weeks to confirm. Avoid sexual exposure in the meantime, or make sure it is protected, as syphilis is sexually transmitted. All the best.
** 1. TPHA [Treponema pallidum haemagglutination] test is used for detection and titration of antibodies against the causative agent of syphilis.Once TPHA is positive, it remains so for life, although there might be no disease and the person is non-infectious but the TPHA remains positive. 2. It may indicate presence of syphilis but needs to be considered in relation with history & other tests by your dermatologist/venereologist & will require a detailed clinical examination as well. 3. Are you showing any signs of syphilis, [could be false positive reaction] if not your Doctor might recommend to go for TPI [treponema pallidum Immunization] and FTA-ABS [ fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption]. 4.The test to know whether a person is cured or not is VDRL.[which becomes negative within an year of treatment.] If it comes negative and TPHA is still positive [which remain for life time] This just means that you had an infection in past and now are totally cured.
