Taken Pain Medicine For Impacted Bowels, Done Enema. Have Gas, Rectal Pain, Blood In Stool. Normal?
I was in the ER on Sunday morning at 12 am when I was found to have impacted bowels. I was given pain meds and a seditives to have a manual impaction removed, it was also followed by a fleet enema. I have really bad gas, pain in the rectum and passing blood when I push trying to have a bowel movement. I am in serious pain is this normal after what I had done??
The history of prolonged constipation and the manual evacuation necessary to remove the impacted stool would have resulted is some minor damage to the bowel. This could cause the discomfort and blood that you are seeing at the moment.
You should consider using agents to soften your stool, a high fiber diet and copious liquids to reduce any further trauma to your bowel. An example is docusate. You may also want to consider an anti inflammatory pain killer to help you. This would include medication such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, celebrex or aspirin.
These should be used on a full stomach.
I hope this helps
