Taking Metformin For Diabetes. Low Blood Sugar Level. Possible To Be Drug Free?
Hi, I take metformin for my diabetes , I was prescribed insulin a year ago but never used it. With diet and weight loss and increased exercise I am keeping my bloods to acceptable levels, my normal high morning readings are now averaging 7 from average 12, I have recently increased my exercise and starting to have the odd hypo. I presume this is my body working better. As an experiment I ate two cakes the other day and my bloods were under 8 an hour later, last year they would have been 18 plus. I have already halved my metformin and wondered is it a reality that I may be drug free if I continue with this healthier weight/lifestyle.
Hello, It is really remarkable that you have managed to keep your blood sugar levels by dieting, exercises and weightloss. Yes it is possible for you to become drug free by continuing these healthy lifestyle ways but it is not sure whether you would be able to do it life long. However keep continuing your healthy lifestyle and keep monitoring your blood sugar levels regularly. Thanks
