Taking Althea After Delivery. Continuous Periods. Should Wait For Period To Stop Or Continue Althea?
hello. I just gave birth last march 21 and i started to take althea pills in april 22 as prescribed by my doctor and after 9 days of taking i had my period but i still continue taking the pills but i still have my period untill now its my 18th day. what will i do? will i take another althea pack after my free day pill or wait till my period stop and will i change my pill? My doctor is out of the country for 2 months i cant wait that long. coz im worried need help! Thanks!!

Bleeding between periods is common in the first three months of starting the pill and it will disappear gradually. It is better to continue the pills as it will take some more time for the reset of the hormonal balance. When the hormone level increases, the bleeding will eventually stop.
Heavy spotting can also be reduced by taking another preparation of higher strength for few months but that should be only decided by your treating Dr. But, if the bleeding is continuous and severe, then you should consult a gynecologist.
A combination of Mafenamic acid and Tranexamic acid twice a day for 5 days will be useful. However, if you are lactating, you should be aware of the fact that OCP pills will suppress the lactation.
