Taking Medications For Bacterial Pneumonia But Fever Still Persist. How Long Will It Continue?
dx with bilat bacterial pneumonia with atelectasis . on avelox 400mg for 10d ventolin inhaler and zofran , my question is im still running a fever 101 at night . Began abx 7 dys ago. how long should i continue running a fever before become concerned
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your situation and problem. Continued fever in case of pneumonia suggests that the antibiotics are not working and infection is still there in the lungs. Pneumonia with atelectesis needs chest physiotherapy along with drugs for removal of secretions and reverting atelectesis. You should also get done sputum culture and sensitivity report. Sputum culture will isolate the causative organism and sensitivity report will guide you about effective antibiotic treatment. By this fasten recovery can be achieved. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done sputum culture and sensitivity to guide appropriate antibiotics, also start chest physiotherapy for reversal of atelectesis. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
