Taking Pain Killer For Severe Pain In Left Hip. X-ray And Ultrasound Result Awaited. Can I Continue Working?

I have been experiencing pain in my left hip for 5 weeks now. Visited my chiropractor 15 times with little to no results. Have gone and seen a doctor, I am taking a pain killer with an anti-inflam. I am waiting for the x-ray results and have an ultrasound booked. the pain is the worst going from sitting to standing which starts in the hip and moves through the buttock to my calf. Walking isn't to bad it feels more sore than painful. My question is should I continue to work while waiting. I work in a labor position which has me doing a lot of bending and heavy lifting, climbing ladders, walking on uneven terrain and operating heavy equipment with no shocks so lots of jarring and bouncing around inside the equipment. Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.
As per your history there can be hip arthritis which can be degenerative or due to avascular necrosis of femoral head [AVN].
I will advise you do X ray of hip and you can consult me with reports or with your doctor.

After clinical examination IF AVN is suspected then you will need MRI.
Till time take analgesic and cartilage protecting medication like glucosamine sulphate.
For hip arthritis joint flexion, extension and rotation exercises will help.
Physiotherapist will help you better to learn more exercises in proper protocol.
If required intra-articular injection can be given.

Diet rich in calcium and protein will help

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
