If the attacks come once in a month and are tolerable, then simple analgesics (pain killers) like Paracetamol is adequate to control the headache. But if the attacks are severe and come more frequently and are associated with other symptoms like vomiting, Paracetamol will be inadequate.. Vaograin is Ergotamine. Taken early in the attack, it produces dramatic relief. But regular use of Vasograin is not justified as it can result in side effects like vomiting, tiredness, tingling, and numbness. It can also cause gangrene due to constriction of blood vessels resulting in reduced blood supply. Prophylactic (preventive) drugs are used to prevent frequent migraine attacks. Drugs like Propranolol and Flunarizine are given daily to prevent migraine. Your treating Dr will know about these drugs. I hope this is helpful to you.
