Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was working out intensely this afternoon, more than I have in a long while, lots of pushups where in this workout and it has been several hours since this workout but my right arm is still partially numb, the areas numb are: my thumb and most of the top part of my arm what should I do and more importantly should I be worried?
Working out more than usual often cause stress on muscles and tendons. When you carry out heavy muscle activities, it needs more blood to muscles to cope with extra energy requirements. And you often feel numbness and pain in areas where extra force was applied. It will disappear after few days.
You should start exercising by gradually increasing the work load by next day, do not increase it spontaneously. Warm up before work load is necessary.
You can get your blood works to exclude presence of anaemia.
Hope it helps.
Take Care!
