Thumb Tip Numbness. Part Of Appendix Removed Due To Appendicitis. Advise?
Hello Doctors!
I had an appendicitis 2 weeks ago and was sent into the hospital. I had a surgery on that day and part of my appendix was removed. I was hospitalized for 5 days and everything was fine. Yet, since returning home, the thumb tip on my right hand has been experiencing intermittent numbness. It comes many times a day and each time last for about 5 - 10 seconds only. It's been a week now and still, the numbness still comes every day. Could you tell me why it happens and when it will go away, if it will?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The numbness at the tip of the thumb is not likely to be related to appendicitis. This is more likely to be due to vitamin B 12 deficiency. Appropriate supplements will help in recovery. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
