Toddler Suffering From Fever, Prescribed Azithromycin And Paracetamol. Is It The Right Medicine?
My daughter is 10 months old and is suffering from fever .Our regular Pediatrician was not available and consulted a different Pediatrician. She had a fever of 101.3 deg F.the Doctor advised Azithral Liquid 100 ( AZITHROMYCIN ORAL SUSPENSION IP 20mg/ml), to be given 3.5 ml for 4 days in the evening and Paracetamol Oral Suspension IP P-125 @3.5ml, 3times a day. We have a doubt on the Azithral Liquid 100.As far as we know, it is given for throat pain / infection. Please advise if it is safe to give that medicine for fever to a 10 month old baby. Yours truly Shoban George
Hi
Is there any cold or cough or ant throat congestion? Azithromycin can be advised children above the age of 6 months and can be given in upper respiratory, ear and lung infections, so depending on the focus of infection you can continue the prescribed medication as per the Pediatrician's advise.
