Toe Injury, Painful, No Swelling Or Bruising, Difficulty Walking. Any Ideas?
I was squatting over my toes and heard a loud cracking noise. I felt a sharp pain and could hardly walk. The pain susided a bit after awhile so I didnt think anything about it. Since then I have had a dull ache and everyonce in a while I get a sharp pain if I bend it just right. I also have a hard time walking on it first thing in the morning. There has been no swelling or bruising but the pain has lasted a couple weeks Any ideas?.
Hello, Even with decrease intensity of pain i will advice you to have a check x ray to rule any fracture.Till you should get it strapped & do warm fomentation for relief of pain.
From the description, I feel that you might have sustained a SOFT TISSUE STRAIN involving your ligaments or tendons.
This will generally resolve within few weeks by the following measures - * Rest to the injured part and dont involve in activities which puts additional strain on the injured tissues. * Ice packing should be applied for about 20 minutes once in every 2 hours. * Analgesic & anti inflammatory medications
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello and Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us.
From description it seems soft tissue injury or ligament injury. If proper immobilisation is not given at the time of injury, healing of tissue or ligament might get hampered.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Meanwhile, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
Hope this helps you.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta
