Transvaginal Ultrasound Shows Subserous Myoma, Pressure On Lower Back. Is Hysterectomy Necessary ?
Hi! i am 48 mother of 3!i had these subserous myoma for almost 15 yrs.now, latest Transvaginal ultrasound showed 8-9cms.i have still my regular monthly period, there are times i felt pressure on my lower back!is there a possible hysterectomy to be done on me?or have to wait my period to cease& eventually the fibroid will shrink?please advice..many thanks!mildred
The decision to carry out a hysterectomy is based on a series of factors, and actually vary from patient to patient. The age, size of the myoma, location and preence of absence of bleeding, compression of nearby structures are the main considerations usually considered before making a decision to treat medically, surgically or do nothing.
In your case, I think doing a hysterectomy might not be necessary for now for two main reasons. First, the size does not pose any compression nor bleeding problems, and you are close to menopause, usually associated with a decrease in the size of fibroids. I suggest being patient as of now and watchful, and not hesitate to consult you gynecologist in case you have specific concerns. Thanks and kind regards.
