Since your Mum is in her 50s the Calcium-Vitamin D supplement given is to prevent Osteoporosis and to treat Vitamin D deficiency induced bone and joint pain. The granuloma can be due to many reasons commonly TB, Syphilis, Sarcoidosis. Since she has joint pain, do get her checked up for Sarcoidosis as this can also cause arthritis, eye pain, cough, shortness of breath, skin pain, kidney stones as well. Review her with the Orthopaedician to discuss this possibility and get adequately treated.
Thanks for using Helathcaremagic. Calcified granulomas due to cysticercosis is common in North India. They can only cause seizures. In your mother case i am surprised to see a doctor doing CT scan for knee pain. There is no relation between the two. As it is incidentally detected no treatment required.

Some times on CT scan, you can come across calcifications. Such benign calcifications are calcified graulomas and considered to be normal healing process in brain after any minor infection. No further treatment and tests is required for these calcified granuloma and they will remain there without any problem for your mother.
I can tell with certainty that there is no relation between her left knee joint pain and the calcified granuloma of brain. Her left knee pain will more likely be due to Oseoarthritis.
She will need an x ray of the knee to confirm this.
So be ressured
Hope this answers your query.
Thanks and Regards
Dr Kiran
