Twisted Knee. Undergoing Physiotherapy, Strengthening VMO Muscle. Treatment For Pain On Squatting?

Hello. Being a keen footballer, I did play a lot of football until a year ago when I twisted it stopping suddenly playing indoor football. Since then I have had arthroscopic surgery and nothing showed up. Currently, I am undergoing physiotherapy and strengthening the VMO muscle, but no matter how I try it seems the pain I get from the squatting motion will not diminish.
