General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Erythropoetin is a hormone produced in kidney, which is necessary for red blood cell production. in chronic kidney diseases this hormone will be lacking, so only iro supplement is not going to help anemia.
First you he need to be evaluated for cause for anemia. He may need physical examination and battery of test to find the root cause. CBC, iron profile, ultrasound abdomen, stool test etc depending on examination findings.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
