Hello and welcome to HCM,
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.

There are two types of polyps. Polyps in the intestine, very common and are sometimes hereditary.

A fibroid polyp is different. It means that the fibroid has a stalk. It is not a true polyp per se. It is just a name given to this fibroid because it has a stalk similar to a polyp. Though fibroids are more common if your near ones have them [like mother sister etc] but it cannot be said that they are genetic. Various other factors are also linked to fibroids like estrogen excess and many more.

The genetic links will not be picked upon biopsy. They will more likely be searching for the type of tumor and the presence of cancer [ very rare but needs to be ruled out before any treatment is undertaken]. Nothing more than that.
So do not worry.
Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
